Position Overview*The 14-day in-house notice is incorporated in this job announcement.The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Cook - Senior Facility in the Department of Parks and Recreation. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**
Under general supervision, leads staff in the production and volume cooking of meals and special dietary items in a large scale kitchen setting; develops and evaluates processes for food preparation and serving of large volume meals in accordance with State of Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) menu standards; ensures that food is handled and prepared in accordance with Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) food establishment regulations; and performs related duties as assigned.

Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- Three (3) years of full-time experience working in the food service industry with at least one (1) year working in a commercial or institutional kitchen setting preparing food for large groups of people with responsibility for menu and meal preparation
- Must possess a valid Southern Nevada Health District Food Handler Safety Training Card at the time of application
- Must obtain the ServSafe® Manager certification within six (6) months of hire
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- All required certifications as mandated by state and federal laws, or as required by the City, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and may be at the incumbent’s expense

Selection ProcessThe selection process will entail Subject Matter Experts reading and scoring your responses to supplemental questions 13-17 and your answers will be the sole determining factor for placement on the eligibility list for this classification.Subject Matter Experts will NOT have access to any information besides the answers to questions 13-17. This means that they will not have access to applications, resumes or any other identifying information when scoring.Candidates who have been placed on the eligibility list will be invited to participate in a selection interview. The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
