    Multiple full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Airport Police Division, located at 1 Kansas City Blvd.
    Salary Range: $24.77-$37.16/hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Shifts based on operational needs, Mandatory Overtime may be required

    Responsibilities

    • Enforces critical laws, rules, and regulations to protect the property and people at the airport.
    • Manages vehicular and pedestrian traffic across bustling airport facilities, keeping everything running smoothly.
    • Responds to high-stakes crash, fire, and emergency situations, providing lifesaving first aid in moments of need.
    • Screens passengers and luggage to detect dangerous weapons, explosives, or hazardous materials to keep everyone safe.
    • Collaborates with agencies, dignitaries, and large crowds, handling everything from bomb threats to preventing theft and vandalism, always ensuring safety


    Qualifications

    REQUIRES high school graduation. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, post-offer physical examination, and psychological evaluation as prescribed by the City. Must successfully complete a 10-year FAA background check. Must be able to obtain a Class A P.O.S.T certification within 6 months of employment. Must be eligible to obtain a special police commission as issued by the KCMO Police Department.

    A Class A P.O.S.T. certification at time of hire is required for this position at time of hire.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
