    The Position

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    This position provides training for all employees within the subdistrict. The Equipment Operator Instructor manages training schedules, conducts traffic control and equipment training, performs daily yard inspections, and investigates personal injury and vehicle crashes. Incumbent provides new hire orientation safety training and serves as a third-party certifier for CDL holders. Incumbent is also responsible for maintaining training records for all personnel, including driving records, physical examinations, and equipment training. This position may require working alternate shifts and outside of traditional business hours.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience operating a variety of complex highway construction and maintenance equipment; OR three years of experience as Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid Nevada Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL), is required within 6 months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law required random testing for controlled substances during employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
