- Assume tutorial responsibilities for individual children under teacher’s direction
- Assume instructional responsibilities as assigned by teacher or supervisor to cause students to actively participate and be successful in the learning environment.
- Prepare materials and media for class and student use.
- Escort children to and from dormitories, classes, dining hall, various areas for therapy, special instruction or Health Center.
- Meet and supervise the loading and unloading of school buses.
- Accompany teachers on field trips and provides needed supervision.
- Provide instruction and assistance during daily living skills, such as eating, bathing, toileting, and dressing.
- Keep anecdotal records or data records of child behavior, IEP or curriculum progress as assigned.
- Report medical emergencies to the supervising teacher and /or Health Center immediately.
- Ensures children are never left unsupervised
- Drive state vehicles for community access trips as assigned.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Additional Responsibilities: - Assume other duties as assigned
- Perform clerical and general office duties as assigned
- This position is required to attend planned class field trips
- 60 college hours preferred.
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Prior experience working with visually impaired/blind children or multi-handicapped.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Outlook and Word.
