Job Description:Purpose:Under general direction, supervise the activities of an assigned public health and/or human services program.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Conduct planning, development and evaluation of assigned program.
- Provide supervision of program implementation.
- Perform grant writing and management of grant budget.
- Collaborate with community-based organizations.
- Promote program and provide program information to community.
- Provide educational and community awareness presentations.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:- Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of the area of specialization.
- Knowledge of current principles and practices of planning and program implementation.
- Knowledge of organization and administration of public health and/or human service programs.
- Knowledge of program monitoring and policy analysis.
- Skill in effective oral and/or written communication.
- Skill in resolving problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgement.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of experience in a field related to public health/human services programming, planning or program management, one (1) year of which was in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of the required work experience.
- Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum substitution of four (4) years
Licenses and Certifications Required:None
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience supervising outreach programs
- Experience providing program diversity to specific populations
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role with the ability to demonstrate experience with selection, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for dismissal
- Excellent communication skills and good working relationship and partnership building.
Notes to Candidate:Position Overview:The Public Health Program Supervisor will supervise staff and oversee programs related to outreach services. The Program Supervisor will facilitate staff one-on-one meetings, developing professional development for staff, monitor budget, coordinate and implement strategic planning of programs, build relationships with partners, promote and market programs.
Salary: Min $65,390.00 - Mid $81,740.00
(Commensurate with experience)
Location: AK Black Community Center- 928 Blackson
Hours: Mon day-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Hours may vary - (some weekends)
