    We are seeking an IT Supervisor Senior to join this team. This position provides advanced technical leadership and supervision in support of enterprise systems, data integration, and IT operations. The IT Supervisor Senior will lead cross-functional teams, oversee critical infrastructure, and drive technology solutions that align with organizational goals.

    Job Description:

    IT Supervisor Senior

    Purpose:

    Under general direction, this position performs routine supervisory work, overseeing daily small to medium and moderately complex information technology (IT) operation work groups.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    • Provides advanced technical leadership on integrating complex existing or new information system technologies.
    • Improves operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and works to provide quality customer service.
    • Leads the coordination and participation with other City departments, project teams, and agencies.
    • Develops training programs, guides, and trains staff on work procedures and operating instructions.
    • Develops and prepares management and productivity reports, studies, and analyses.
    • Prepares operating budgets and reviews ongoing expenditures.
    • Develops short- and long-range goals and monitors performance results.
    • Prepares, reviews, and approves documentation for procurement.
    • Ensures compliance with City of Austin personnel, security, and department procedures.
    • Researches complex commercial products for possible use.


    Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:

    Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
    • Knowledge of budget processes.
    • Knowledge of current IT systems and data systems technology, security, operations, and practices.
    • Knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices.
    • Skill in organizing work effectively and efficiently.
    • Skill in understanding the organization and operation of the city and departments as necessary.
    • Skill in conducting hardware and software evaluations, performing selection and acquisition functions.
    • Ability to develop, implement, and administer a budget, prepare budget requests, and monitor expenditures for budgetary compliance.
    • Ability to read and interpret standard accounting and financial reports.
    • Ability to conduct research and analyze and interpret research findings.
    • Ability to compile data and prepare narrative and statistical correspondence, reports, and presentations.
    • Ability to assign and direct the work activities of assigned personnel.
    • Ability to understand complex program structure, strong analysis and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus two (2) year of leadership or supervisory experience in a field related to the job.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) timekeeping applications.
    • Proficiency in using BANNER payroll systems.
    • Hands-on experience with Workday, including data integration and reporting.
    • Strong skills in querying and developing databases to support data-driven decision-making.
    • Proven ability to lead projects that integrate Workday data with external data sources.
    • Experience in overseeing Network and Desktop Support Teams, ensuring efficient IT operations.
    • Ability to support the implementation of new electronic services, including process development and system integration.
    • Leadership in identifying unmet information needs and implementing innovative solutions to address them.

    Salary Range: $91,080.00 to $117,000.00

    Days and Hours:

    Monday - Friday.
    8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    Hours may vary due to operational needs. Alternative schedules and remote work options are available. However, the position requires at least 40% of the workweek to be in-office, after an initial probationary period.

    Driving Requirement:

    City Government

    The City of Austin is a progressive, full-service municipal organization operating under the Council-Manager form of government.
