The Position Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.
The Department of Public Safety is recruiting to fill a Training Officer 1 position within the Parole and Probation Division in Reno. The incumbent serves as a training liaison with all Divisions within the Department and is the single Department liaison with the Nevada Commission on Peace Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.); maintaining knowledge of P.O.S.T.'s and the Department's training mandates, forms, and reports to include their maintenance. They will assist the Divisions with the coordination, facilitation, and presentation of mandatory, in-service, and professional training opportunities, and therefore, must maintain a knowledge of mandatory in-service training requirements for all Department employees. They must be familiar with and be able to use the various equipment required to facilitate the presentation of curriculum and assist instructors and must have the computer skills to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Captivate as to maintain training records, create spread sheets, create lesson plans and PowerPoint presentations, and develop statistical databases. They will become proficient in the Nevada Risk Assessment System (NRAS) and will provide training when required. In addition, the incumbent will conduct audits regarding NRAS progressive case plans when necessary.

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or related field and two years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including experience planning and developing curriculum and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
