Description: JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The
Accountant Senior is respo nsible for Jefferson County’s financial reporting and analysis to internal and external partners . P erform a variety of complex and professional accounting functions and analyze financial inform ation from various sources for the preparation of financial reports . Prepare and review financial reports and schedules for internal and external use. Prepare journal entries a s needed to ensur e a ccurate financial reporting. Review gener al ledger account a ctivity for precis e fiscal reporting and ensur e that data e ntered int o the f inancial managemen t system is a ccurat e and i n acco rdance wit h g enerally accepte d accounting principles (GAAP) for local governments. A ssis t department directors, county and state personnel, v endor s and the public by providing general fiscal information . .
SCHEDULE: This position operates on our four-day, 10 hour work week (Monday-Thursday); however, there is flexibility to work Monday-Friday. This position is hybrid, with remote work and in-office workas needed.
Personal Choice Work Model: After six months of employment, all employees can work with their supervisor to develop a personal choice work model and schedule that works best for them and ensures all role expectations are met . This means an employee may choose to work from the office more or from home more, with some general expectations such as in-person tasks required by role.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $69,550.40-$88,415.50 USD Annually
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Performs reconciliations including but not limited to sales tax payable.
- Calculates and reports Open Space and Road & Bridge attributable shares to cities within the county.
- Calculates and f ile s sales tax payable to city and state.
- Files annual Conservation Trust Fund certificate.
- Processes annual business personal property tax abatements.
- Prepares audit schedules, reconciliations and other data requested by external auditors for the annual report, and Cost Allocation reporting.
- Prepares annual Local Highway Finance Report from Colorado Departme nt of Transportation.
- Performs periodic county-wide general ledger analysis to ensure proper accounting and to ensure accurate internal and external financial reporting to guide management in decision making.
- Create new and update established internal management reports relating to county debt, sales tax, census, and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filings. Prepare footnotes, continuing disclosure, and statistical tables for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR ) .
- Acts as liaison and primary contact for the Cost Allocation Plan .
- Preparation of annual Tax Payer Bill of Rights (TABOR) calculation.
- Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, classes as appropriate to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field of governmental accounting and municipal financing. Review professional journals and procedural manuals, attend association and professional meetings, and otherwise maintain contacts with governmental accounting professionals to facilitate exchange of information.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum T hree years related work experience
Education: Bachelors Degree in accounting or related field
*Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
