The Position Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Department of Corrections has a vacancy for a Correctional Vocational Trainer at Northern Nevada Correctional Center, in Carson City, NV. Incumbents supervise inmates in their assigned work areas to ensure the inmate provides adequate service in the subject matter in which they were instructed. Incumbents order stock, materials and equipment in order to maintain the functions of the respective work area. Incumbents in this position are responsible to instruct inmates in a specific discipline or field by providing both written instruction and practical training in order to teach vocational skills, use of equipment, appropriate health and safety practices, and instill work ethics and attitudes. Correctional Vocational Trainers are required to submit reports to the Correctional Caseworker III regarding each inmate?s progress, cooperation and attitude.

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) One year of journey level experience in the field to be taught; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in which the applicant demonstrates possession of the entry level knowledge, skills and abilities. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
