Job Description:Purpose: Under general direction, this position oversees the day-to-day landside access operations of the airport during an operational shift. This position supervises and provides direction to operational staff who are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the traveling public within Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS).
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:- Oversees all shift activities including the coordination and monitoring of all landside access functions to ensure work is performed in a consistent manner with AUS policies, procedures, and regulations; in accordance with AUS standards; and to ensure the safety and security of passengers, tenants, and employees.
- Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, City, and Local regulations, policies, procedures, and ordinances.
- Interacts with AUS tenants, ground transportation, parking providers, rental car agencies, rideshare companies, and the public; ensures the delivery of essential customer service and provides problem and conflict resolution.
- Reviews logs and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness to include writing of technical reports.
- Represents the City on boards and commissions, in meetings, etc. and Airport Management in all aspects of airport landside operations.
- Coordinates operations with other divisions and outside contractors.
- Conducts divisional needs assessments, assists in the development of short- and long-term goals, and manages projects and objectives, etc.
- Conducts comprehensive investigations on incident reports, violations of City Code of Ordinances, airport rules, policies, etc.
- Monitors and inspects airport activities, property, and facilities.
- Coordinates the airport's response to critical incidents.

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Aviation Management, Airway Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, plus three (3) years of work experience in security, airport operations, or a related field, including one (1) year of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Any combination of education and work experience, including one (1) year of leadership or supervisory experience, totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the above minimum qualifications.
Licenses and Certifications Required:- Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain Federally-mandated security clearances required to work at an airport.
Preferred Qualifications:- Supervisory or Managerial experience in transportation, traffic control or airport operations.
- Experience in Ground Transportation Systems including taxis, shuttles, Transportation Network Companies (TNC's), and public transit.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Notes to Candidate:The Airport Landside Access Supervisor oversees all shift activities including the coordination and monitoring of all Landside Access functions to ensure work is performed in a consistent manner with Austin Aviation policies, procedures, and regulations; in accordance with Austin Aviation standards; and to ensure the safety and security of passengers, tenants, and employees.
This position ensures compliance with all Federal, State, City, and Local regulations, policies, procedures, and ordinances.
WORK HOURS:Monday - Friday, 3:30pm - 12:00am
Shift may change according to departmental needs. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work.
OVERTIME:Overtime may be required with or without notice.
SALARY:$31.39 - $39.24

DRIVING REQUIREMENT:This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL:This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.
CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS CHECK:The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10-year criminal background check and security threat assessment.
