    The Position

    Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    This position is located within the Adjudications Section of the Division of Water Resources in Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent is primarily responsible for synthesizing documents and writing portions of Orders for assigned adjudications; preparing tables and abstracts supporting orders; performing necessary field investigations to assist in determining the validity of Proofs of Appropriation; and reviewing newly filed Proofs of Appropriations for completeness and accuracy. Additional duties also include, but are not limited to, performing technical peer reviews of portions of orders written by others; participating in hearings on objections to Preliminary Orders of Determination; supporting the Decree Manager in matters related to investigations involving decreed water rights; assisting staff and the public with resolving problems relating to all aspects of the adjudication process, and other duties as assigned.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
