    The Position

    Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    This position is located within the District Betterment Group in Las Vegas. Professional Engineers perform professional engineering assignments requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. Incumbents within this division will prepare and review construction cost estimates and schedules; prepare preliminary plans and specifications of construction contracts; use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering documents and bid packages; inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensures conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards. Duties also include writing and reviewing service provider agreements, preparing project related memos and reviewing / processing invoices for payment.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria Candidates shall be able to demonstrate they are actively working on obtaining a Professional Engineering license in the State of Nevada. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
