PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: Game Warden Training Center, 4363 FM 1047, Hamilton, TX 76531
GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Food Service Manager, this position performs routine (journey-level) food service work, including serving food and/or beverages at the Game Warden Training Center. Responsibilities include preparing meals, preparing dining areas, serving meals, washing dishes, cleaning and setting up tables. Assists with food preparation, food inspections, food quantity and quality, dishwashing and other food service-related duties. May be required to assist in other areas such as general housekeeping and/or custodial duties at various building at the Game Warden Training Center. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience: No experience required.
Licensure: Applicant must possess a valid State driver's license;
Must possess or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Food Handler Certification issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining the required license and certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience: Six months experience as a food service worker in a food service operation such as a restaurant, cafeteria, camp, or resort/retreat, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of basic restaurant operations including food preparation, inventory of grocery supplies, safe food temperatures and health regulation compliance and serving guests;
Knowledge of basic mathematics;
Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
Skill in effective verbal and written communication;
Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner;
Skill in serving food/beverages to cadets and guests in a timely and orderly manner;
Ability to serve food/beverages as ordered;
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;
Ability to work as a member of a team;
Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities;
Ability to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 30 lbs.;
Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.
WORKING CONDITIONS Required to work in a law enforcement environment;
Required to pass a national fingerprint-based background check to maintain employment;
Required to work 20 hours per week, includes flexible/various-schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work week - Monday through Friday and occasional holidays;
Required to adjust to changing schedules and work split shifts;
Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 30 lbs.;
May be required to spend the night at the GWTC at times due to scheduling needs;
May be required to operate a State vehicle;
Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays;
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures;
Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
