This position will be located at the
St. Louis Regional Office at 1390 Timberlake Manor Parkway, 2 nd Floor, Chesterfield, MO 63017 .
- Conduct inspections of stormwater, industrial process wastewater, and domestic wastewater facilities. Write inspection reports in accordance with Missouri Clean water Law, Clean Water Commission Regulations, and internal procedures for assistance, compliance, and enforcement (PACE).
- Conduct stormwater and wastewater sampling when necessary and submit samples and chain of custody to the Environmental Services Program for analysis.
- Make decisions during daily work and inspections/investigations using knowledge of the laws and regulations, and applicable work experience to determine if wastewater treatment systems are working properly and in compliance. Provide Compliance Assistance to permitted facilities in the field or on the telephone and document in SharePoint.
- Implement policy/rules/laws concerning wastewater and stormwater quality. Possess the ability to explain to the Water Pollution Program how or if a policy is working based on field observations and suggest changes in their development.
- Participate in team discussions on internal process improvements.
- Take concern information from the public and investigate concerns related to stormwater and wastewater issues. Complete concern investigation reports, relay information back to concerned parties, and follow up as required.
- Schedule and perform daily work and make decisions with only routine oversight of work. Refer to Missouri Clean Water Law and Clean Water Commission Regulations for decisions.
- Participate in team discussions on internal process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with other units and programs including, but not limited to Engineering, Drinking Water, Solid Waste, Hazardous Waste, Air Pollution, and Scrap Tire Management
- Respond to other duties as assigned, including investigating environmental emergencies in the field such as sanitary sewer overflows and fish kills.
This position
may be required to obtain and maintain a Missouri Wastewater Treatment certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary certification.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: - A bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience
- Preferred degree program would include the following: any scientific field including but not limited to Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, Geology, Forestry, Soil Science or Conservation, or Natural Resource Management.
