Overview This position supports the Public Works Department including but not limited to all programs associated with the Rapid Pavement Program (RPP), and all unplanned or miscellaneous work. This position will perform entry level engineering work and will be responsible for engineering work related to design computations, engineering calculations for plan quantities, plan preparation, and engineering related duties in the field.
Responsibilities - With guidance of a professional engineer, this position will:
o Collect, analyze and interpret data to develop engineering solutions define scope
o Performs engineering calculations to develop estimates
o Develops and prepares plans and specifications
o Applies engineering principles, construction practices and problem solving
o Interprets and applies related local ordinances/specifications/standards, as we state and federal regulations/guidelines to engineering projects
- Performs engineering-related duties in the field of transportation engineering
- Conduct field investigations and periodic site visits to future and current construction sites
- Evaluates quality of work and progress
- Reviews construction plans for accuracy and constructability
- Assists and provides comments during plan review stages
- Uses Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software to create plan sheets
- Reports construction progress and status
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work- Exempt - Full-Time - Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
- Must be available to work additional hours as needed
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
