    Parks Construction & Infrastructure Superintendent

    Pay Range: $75,920 to $110,159 annually

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in industry standards and knowledgeable about trade-related safety hazards and precautions. This role requires the ability to perform effectively under time-sensitive deadlines while ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service.

    The Parks Construction/Infrastructure Superintendent plans, directs, manages, supervises and oversees the activities and operations of the Parks Construction/Parks Maintenance Section within the City of Olathe Infrastructure Focus Area.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Leads, coaches, trains, mentors and evaluates assigned technical and maintenance staff; sets section, crew and individual goals for production and performance consistent with city Vision, Values and Mission, Leadership Philosophy and Strategic Plan; monitors and evaluates safety policies, practices, and procedures to ensure employees receive proper safety training and work within a safe work environment.
    • Manages the Parks Construction and Parks Infrastructure functions for the City of Olathe including staff, budgets and programs assigned to the construction, repair, and maintenance of city parks’ facilities (including, but not limited to, outdoor pools, fountains, shelters, parks buildings, and trails); b uilds and maintains positive relationships within City departments, with citizens, vendors, and contractors; coordinates the activities of the Parks Construction and Parks Infrastructure Section with internal and external architects, engineers, project managers, recreation staff, and others, to ensure city assets are maintained, repaired, opened, constructed, setup and closed as necessary to meet city deadlines and citizens’ expectations.
    • Leads the development and on-going maintenance of an accurate inventory, condition assessment and worklog history of assigned parks facilities and assets within the City of Olathe’s asset management program and software.
    • Serves as a leader in the City of Olathe’s emergency operations, including snow removal, when required.


    Qualifications

    Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in construction, maintenance and/or field operations is required along with two years of experience in a supervisory role. Experience in building trades (maintenance and/or construction), facility maintenance, and/or parks maintenance is preferred.

    Education: An associate's degree in construction science or related field is required. A bachelor’s degree with major course work in Construction Science or related field is preferred. Additional relevant and increasingly responsible experience may be substituted for education.

    Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required.
