MAGISTRATE-COURT OPERATIONSDepartment: JudicialPay Grade: 109FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPersonnel Status: Regular Full-Time JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for providing administrative support for court operations and exercising authority by the State of Alabama to uphold and enforce the law. This position reports to the Court Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Assists with in-court operations, including set-up and explanation of payment plans, community service and CRO obligations, as well as issuance of subpoenas and new court dates.
- Receives fees, fines, and payments.
- Oversees the issuance of arrest warrants for state law and municipal ordinance violations.
- Assists Court Operations Manager with docket maintenance, including issuance of Failure to Appear warrants, second notices and other pleadings.
- Assists all other local, state, and federal government agencies in pending investigations being conducted.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; one (1) to three (3) years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications: - Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid Magistrate and Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Certificate within six months of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of court policies and procedures and relevant City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of local government operations, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.
- Skill in using computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
- Skill in the use of small office equipment, including calculators, copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to meet and deal with employees and the public in an effective and courteous manner.
- Ability to get along with others, and work effectively with the public and co-workers.
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is sedentary work, which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, or walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed in an office environment.
