    The Town of Prescott Valley invites you to apply for the position of Signal Technician.

    We invite you to join the high performing team at the Town of Prescott Valley, serving as our Signal Technician within the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for performing repair and installation of electrical and electronic traffic control systems and equipment.

    Examples of Duties

    IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL:
    • Assist in the construction of new signalized intersections, including installation of underground conduit and pull boxes, preparation and installation of pole foundations, mast arms, and luminaries, as well as monitor and observe contractors.
    • Respond to emergency traffic signal breakdowns; test traffic signal components to diagnose reason for malfunction; close down signal operation if necessary to perform work; debug malfunctioning component or replace damaged or worn-out parts on site or in shop.
    • Conduct field inspections of all City traffic signal components and perform preventative maintenance on equipment; modify existing equipment to bring up to current operating specifications.
    • Perform periodic cabinet maintenance at each signal intersection; check all equipment and timing to ensure accuracy; change malfunctioning devices as required. Sign and marking maintenance as required.
    • Perform electrical duties including identifying or locating source(s) of power, calculating needed power, cost of power, and adding circuits.
    • Perform sign maintenance, repair and installation.
    • Complete small roadway striping projects.


    Typical Qualification

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year experience in electrical or electronic maintenance and repair. An Associates degree in electronics is preferred.
    • Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within timeframe designated by the Town.
    • Must obtain IMSA Traffic Control Technician Certification, IMSA Level 1 & 2 Traffic Signal Technician Certification and IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Certification within timeframe designated by the Town.
    • Respond to emergencies, including snow removal from streets and municipal parking lots, sidewalks and grounds, sanding of roads for ice, flooding due to rain and snow melt off, motor vehicle accidents, and traffic signals and signing emergencies.

    COMPENSATION:

    The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high-performance culture. The Town package includes a health, dental, and vision insurance plan, participation in the state retirement system, optional 457 deferred compensation with a town match up to 6%, vacation, holidays, and additional comprehensive benefits.
    • The expected hiring range is $26.60-$27.93.
    • The full hourly range is $26.60-$37.25.
