    Job Description

    SUMMARY: Under general supervision, operates a closed-circuit television for inspection of storm water drainage mains. Work involves the responsibility for safe, efficient operation of the closed-circuit television as well as the care and maintenance of the equipment and vehicles associated with the closed-circuit television.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Responsible for the operation, care and maintenance of the CCTV van and associated equipment.
    • Responsible for conducting minor repairs to equipment.
    • Operates a variety of mechanical equipment used in Municipal Utilities work that does not require special training for its use.
    • May repair general malfunctions of the Storm Water system; may perform repair work, maintenance and cleaning of systems and equipment as necessary to resolve and prevent problems.
    • May operate equipment normally assigned to a higher classification temporarily and for training purposes.
    • Maintains assigned equipment and tools.
    • Performs related work as required.
    • Supports the relationship between the City of Galveston and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
    • Employees may at any time be required to work in order to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services, in the event of an emergency.


    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    Knowledge:
    • City policies and procedures.
    • Operation and care of material, methods and techniques commonly used in the closed-circuit television activities.
    • Occupational hazards involved and safety precautions necessary to work associate with this classification.
    • Safety procedures and practices.
    • Personal computer and various software applications.

    Skill in:
    • Handling situations requiring diplomacy, fairness, firmness and sound judgment.
    • Providing efficient customer service.
    • Understanding and applying City policies and procedures.
    • Ability to compute, rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs
    • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with all levels within the City.
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    High School diploma or equivalent; AND two years’ experience performing work involving materials, equipment, methods and techniques commonly used in closed-circuit television systems OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    License & Certifications:
    • Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
    • NASSCO PACP Certification


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed primarily in an outdoor work environment. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
