Why you’ll love this position:The Section for Long-Term Care seeks to help protect the health and safety of elderly and disabled individuals residing in long term care facilities. This professional position supervises team members who conduct complaint investigations, recertification surveys, and inspections in long term care facilities.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
- Supervise regional office staff who conduct surveys, licensure inspections, complaint investigations, and other activities as assigned and in accordance with federal and state policies and procedures.
- Conduct on-site inspections of regulated facilities/programs to determine compliance with administration and resident care, resident rights, personal funds, dietary.
- Assist in training new and existing employees both in the office and onsite. Train new field staff including accompanying new employees on surveys and inspections to ensure they fully understand the process. Provide individualized training on problem areas identified. Ensure all staff complete the required state and federal training.
- Accept weekend and holiday on call time for complaints to provide direction to the on call field staff with the possibility you may have to go to a facility with a surveyor on a weekend if the situation called for such.
- Communicate with Regional Manager and Central Office staff regarding enforcement.
- Serve as the regional contact in the absence of the Regional Manager including handling personnel matters and providing direction to staff.
- Assist in monitoring the complaint email and fax line for incoming complaints daily when in the office.
- Assist with complaint initiations, triage and assignments. Attend scheduled meetings and assume a fair share of the workload. Accept assignments as needed.
- Ensure deficiencies are based on facts, include more than one source of evidence whenever possible, and clearly support the regulation cited. Prepare and maintain inspection reports, complaint investigation reports, and documentation required to provide evidence of compliance or non-compliance.
- Review Statements of Deficiencies prior to submission to the Regional Manager. Ensure SODs comply with CMS Principles of Documentation.
- Monitor and approve employee time in DELTA.
- Perform Engage and Reflect sessions with staff.
- Assist with day to day calls from providers and citizens.
Minimum Qualifications: - Successful completion of Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test and proficient in ASE-Q.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills with residents, providers, and the public is an essential component of this position.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new programs.
- Candidates must submit copies of official college transcripts.
- Candidates must meet the qualifications for the classification of Regulatory Auditor Supervisor: Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.) In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective supervision and training. Ability to provide leadership and supervision to professional and technical staff. OR
- Candidates must meet the qualifications for the classification of Registered Nurse Specialist Supervisor: Licensure as a Registered Nurse and 2-4 years of experience as a registered nurse. In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of a specialized area of professional nursing including related theory, practices, and standards. Supervisors are accountable for oversight/review of work and documentation of subordinate and/or specialist personnel.
