Senior Support Care Assistant

Annual Salary: $44,517.41
Southwest Community Services has an opening for a Senior Support Care Assistant in the ISL Program. The working hours are 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 12 hour shift, rotating days with every other weekend off.
Responsibilities:
This is a second-level direct care position which may function as a lead worker. Accountable for assisting individuals with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks. Assists in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned; collects and maintains records of fluid intake and output; reports on the condition of the individuals; and participates in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. May be accountable for preparing, administering, and charting medication under the direction of a professional nurse, as a Certified Medication Technician. Transports individuals in state vehicles to their appointments and activities in the community. Assists the Supervising Support Care Assistants with staff scheduling as needed.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Knowledge of the general care and treatment of individuals, including basic nursing, first aid, and emergency treatments. Ability to work with individuals with physical illness and developmental disabilities. Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed. Knowledge of elementary behavior modification techniques, medical terminology, and drug classifications. Ability to prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports. Computer knowledge and skills required in order to assist with staff scheduling as needed.
Typical qualifications:
1 - 2 years of relevant experience. Possession of a high school diploma or GED and possession of a valid driver’s license.
