    The Systems Administration Technician will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving IT automation systems and tools, with a specific focus on Ansible and the new Key Management System. This role is essential for optimizing our IT infrastructure, processes, and workflow, ensuring both efficiency and effectiveness in delivering IT services to all departments. Additionally, this position will play a key role in ITSD's Digital Government Transformation initiative.

    • Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment. The Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

    • The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.


    This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting Enterprise IT Operations (EIT).

    • Design, implement, and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for automation into systems, applications, and processes to align Cloud with on-prem standards and strategies.
    • Utilize Ansible Tower for centralized management, logging, role-based access control, and workflow automation.
    • Ensure Ansible-based automation solutions meet end-user needs and are seamlessly integrated.
    • Monitor automation processes, ensuring their reliability and efficiency.
    • Document all automation workflows, including playbook creation and maintenance procedures.
    • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving any issues in the infrastructure related to automation.


    • Experience in implementing and maintaining automation tools, especially Ansible.
    • Strong knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
    • Strong knowledge of software development practices (code management, Agile tools, automated testing).
    • General/broad knowledge of cloud-based services (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle).
    • Knowledge of cloud hosting environments, product development, scripting, and automation.
    • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
    • Adept in oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well-received.
    • Exceptional investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

    Knowledge of operating systems and applications. Knowledge of cybersecurity issues and preventative methods. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software. Ability to research, collect, and analyze network performance.
