    Therapeutic Services Worker- Southeast MO Mental Health Center (SMMHC) - Farmington Site

    Job Location: This full time position will be located at 1016 W. Columbia St. Farmington, MO 63640 at the Sex Offender Rehabilitation (SORTS) program. Regular work schedule will be T, W, Th 8:00 am-4:30 pm, Fri 11:30 am-8:00 pm, and Sat 7:30 am-4:00 pm with Sunday/Monday off. Occasional coverage on other shifts may be necessary at times to meet the needs of SMMHC.

SMMHC employs many Therapeutic Service Workers so that clients have these opportunities to take part in stimulating, non-clinical activities. Therapeutic Services Workers provide these services seven days a week. Whether it’s recreational activities, hobby engagement, physical fitness opportunities, or even simply one on one conversation, our Therapeutic Service Workers tirelessly provide our clients with both structured and/or spontaneous activities that make it a more pleasant and wholesome environment. Our Therapeutic Service Workers will assist Recreation & Music Therapists, but also autonomously provide programming to clients in a success based and non-invasive manner.

    Those in Therapeutic Service Worker positions thrive most when they have skills in group facilitation, good observation skills, and the ability to build rapport with clients from all walks of life, regardless of level of functioning. Those in this position are expected to be creative, communicative, able to work on a team, and able to handle changes in a fast past environment.

    What you’ll do:

    • This is a first-level position accountable for assisting professional or higher-level positions in making detailed preparations for, and in carrying out, planned client activities in recreational, occupational, physical, music, and related therapy areas.
    • At this level, employees learn activity techniques and their therapeutic applications as a means of developing the clients’ social skills, responsibility, and initiative, as well as their ability to copy with problems, gain self-satisfaction, and adapt to reality situations.


    All you need for success as a Therapeutic Services Worker:

    Knowledge of general methods of preparing for and conducting planned sessions of group activities. Ability to learn the basic principles and methods of recreational, music, and other related therapeutic activities, and their application to the treatment of persons with mental illness and/or developmental or physical disabilities. 0-1 year of work experiences (Substitutions may be allowed)
