The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) seeks a Staff Development Training Manager. This position may be domiciled within one of DMH’s regional offices, Jefferson City Central Office, or a DMH facility.
The base salary offered for this position ranges from $76,000.00 - $82,000.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience. If the selected candidate is eligible for a pay differential, such as retention pay, the total salary may exceed what is listed in this posting.
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the DMH Way and Supervisory Training Programs, ensuring consistency, quality, and relevance.
- Understand, utilize, and demonstrate practices taught in the DMH Way, including difficult conversations, de-escalation techniques, social styles, and effective communication.
- Design, market, and deliver training content.
- Identify training needs, help establish priorities, and direct or coordinate training efforts.
- Stay current on adult learning, facilitation, and leadership development trends.
- Model and reinforce department policies, mission, vision, and values.
- Serve as a visible advocate for learning, development, and professional growth across the department.
- Set clear expectations, goals, and performance standards for supervised staff.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities for supervised staff.
- Delegate operational tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
- Utilize Learning Management System (LMS) software, including Missouri Vital Enterprise Resource System (MOVERS), and RELIAS to manage courses, track participation, and generate reports.
- Establish and track training metrics such as attendance, completion rates, and compliance.
- Attend MOVERS implementation sessions, share knowledge, and communicate DMH needs.
- Serve as a liaison between local training units, human resources, and content subject matter experts in the development and delivery of training.
- 50% travel is required for site visits and training facilitation. Some overnight travel is required.
Eligibility:Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, Public Administration, Education, or a closely related field. 5-7 years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Relevant experience may substitute for education on a case-by-case basis.
