    JOB SUMMARY
    The Senior Meter Alarms & Events Specialist is responsible for coordinating the responsibilities of the Meter Alarms & Events Specialists. This position is the overall subject matter expert for the AMI communication modules and meter alarms & events. This position collaborates regularly with Itron, SmartWorks, consultants and other SAWS resources.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Encourages, coaches, and monitors team members.
    • Provides functional guidance by assigning and reviewing the work of the Meter Alarms & Events Specialists.
    • Conducts training and identifies resource needs for the department.
    • Serves as functional liaison with Information Services and other departments.
    • Maintains collaborative working relationship with Itron’s and SmartWorks subject matter experts for events and alarms.
    • Develops reports based on alarms and events produced by the AMI communication module and AMI meters.
    • Recommends changes to existing procedures based on key performance metrics.
    • Facilitates procedure updates with Itron, SmartWorks, and other SAWS resources to address events and alarms.
    • Coordinates daily resolution of reported meter alarms and events.
    • Reports meter anomalies that may be indicative of system and/or meter/module issues.
    • Coordinates daily team assignments and resolves escalations.
    • Reviews AMI-related data requests from SAWS business areas or from external entities (may have to determine the best means to obtain, extract and provide the data or report).
    • Extracts and validates AMI-related data used to support data sharing across the organization.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    DECISION MAKING

    • Reports to ConnectH2O Operations Manager.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Three years’ experience in customer service including one year experience as a Meter Alarms & Events Specialist in Customer Service.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • 5 years’ experience in meter operations or related field.


    JOB DIMENSIONS
    • Demonstrated ability to develop expertise in new systems and business processes.
    • Excellent problem solving and reasoning skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal management and communications skills.
    • Ability to self-direct and operate autonomously.
    • Ability to successfully complete Itron Temetra training.
    • Ability to successfully complete SmartWorks Compass training.
    • Working knowledge of water metering and SAWS field practices.
    • Skill with Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
    Physical requirements include lifting up to 20 pounds. Subject to sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time. Requires visual acuity, speech and hearing. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with possible field visits to project sites, vendor meetings and/or other Service Centers. May operate a company or personal vehicle to conduct site visits.
    May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule such as nights and weekends.
