This is a supervisory-level position accountable for directing and overseeing a variety of facility, grounds, specialized trade workers, and contractors in the maintenance, operations, and repair of state facilities, equipment, and grounds. This position implements a planned preventive maintenance and repair program; plans and organizes work; prepares time and material estimates; orders materials; maintains records of materials used; requisitions supplies and materials required for the operation of the maintenance department.
Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline.
In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Skill in the operation of maintenance and grounds keeping tools and equipment. Ability to estimate, plan, and organize personnel, materials, and equipment. Ability to train, coach, mentor, and develop skills of staff. Ability to determine cause of maintenance issues and take appropriate action.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older with three or more years of experience relevant/similar to the listed job functions.
All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed. Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or the command center).
- A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
