    Overview

    The Water Quality Project Manager will assist the water quality team to ensure drinking water meets and exceeds all state and federal standards. The project manager will also initiate, coordinate, and manage projects to ensure compliance with TCEQ regulations while protecting health and human safety. The individual will assume responsibility for managing multiple projects related to increasing and improving water supply while ensuring regulatory requirements are met for current and new supplies.

    Responsibilities

    • Under the direction of the Water Quality Manager and Water Quality Superintendent, ensures all federal and state drinking water regulations are met through data collection and analysis, reporting, and review. This function includes maintaining knowledge of current and upcoming regulatory requirements and developing plans with the Water Quality team to ensure full compliance with TCEQ and EPA standards.

    • Execute projects and develop strategies to advance new water sources as determined by department leadership. Including developing and initiating Project Execution Plans for feasibility studies. This includes, but is not limited to, assessment of groundwater sources or other previously unexplored options that may be utilized to supplement drinking water supplies during periods of drought.

    • Develop practices to ensure new projects related to water supply and water quality are successful and meet all regulatory requirements and city ordinances. This function includes reviewing and issuance of applications, permits, and documents related to supplemental water supplies.

    • Create reports and disseminate information to management, clients, and regulatory agencies as needed.

    • Works with other departments, divisions, consultants, regulatory agents, and other parties as needed to ensure program activities are well rounded and comprehensive in meeting the goals of the City of Corpus Christi.

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

    • Exempt-Full-Time - Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM

    • Must be available to work additional hours as needed

    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

    • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree (BA / BS)

    • Three (3) years experience

    Licenses and Certifications

    Required

    • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring

    Required within one (1) year of hire

    • TCEQ Class C Water Operator

    Employment Testing

    • Physical Exam: Yes

    Basis of Rating

    A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
