Overview
The Marina Dockhand II is responsible for night shift patrols, cleanliness of the facilities and grounds, and assisting the marina team in performing preventive maintenance to marina facilities, docks, grounds and equipment. This position assists with the operation and maintenance of the boat yard travel lift and yard services. The incumbent will crew as a deckhand onboard marina vessel to assist with boat towing, debris removal, and water-based projects. This position will interact/provide general information to marina customers and the public. The Dockhand provides safety patrols during special events and helps to enforce marina regulations.
Responsibilities
• Performs daily/weekly inspections of all vehicles and equipment to ensure equipment is safe for daily operations
• Inspects all lubricates for correct level, inspects all turn signals, warning lights, headlights for proper operations, wheel/tires for wear/damage and proper air pressure
• Assists other marina dockhands with daily facilities routine cleaning
• Replaces deck board wooden beams, piling brackets, security gate lock repair, fencing repair etc.
• Operates various types of tools such as electric drills, hole saw, jig saw, band saw, skill saw, hammer drills, hydraulic press, table saw, shop saw, miter saw, air impacts, cable cutters, wire/stick welder and cutting torch
• Repairs minor plumbing to marina docks water supply lines, sanitary hose lines, replace toilet flanges and water faucets to marina facilities
• Uses chemicals and supplies such as pipe cleaners, pipe glue, pipe sealant acid cleaner and measuring tape
• Performs minor electrical repairs to marina customers rental spaces utility services dockside
• Maintains security lighting fixtures on docks and facilities lighting fixtures replacing bulbs, 15-amp to 50-amp receptacles and breakers to customers dock rental spaces
• Utilizes tools such as voltage-multi meter to recognize voltage reading and or amp reading, various hand tools, nut drives, wire cutters, wire strippers, pilers, color coded tape, hand saw, and cordless drill
• Assists with the operation of the marina vessel for maintenance projects, debris removal, and boat towing
• Utilizes equipment such as de-water pumps, tow bridle, boat hook, skiff hook, binoculars, GPS, Radar, Depth Sound, Structure scan imaging, and VHR radio
• Assists with the Haul Out Yard maintenance and services, operation and maintenance of the 20-ton boat Lift crane, maintaining marina boat yard equipment and facility, and assists with docking and haul out services for boaters
• Performs preventive maintenance to 30-foot marina rescue with vessel twin diesel-powered engines and all on-board equipment, and services golf carts
• Supervises Dockhand ls in daily marina related duties and maintenance
• Provides Dockhand ls with safety training in the use of marina tools, equipment, hot and cold weather, and the hazards working with electrical around the water
• Maintains an inventory of all equipment and supplies used by Dockhand 1 and 2 for marina projects and ensures tools are returned at the completion of each project
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt - Full-Time - Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Sunday
• Must be available to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring
• CPR and First Aid Certifications

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
