Job Description
Description of Duties:- Provide instruction for the full-range of the speech curriculum that includes public speaking, interpersonal communication, group discussion, argumentation, and intercultural communication
- Support and be capable of coaching a competitive College Forensic Program
- Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines, and work on articulation agreements with local colleges and schools
- Develop and maintain a relevant community college curriculum leading to certificate and degree completion in Speech Communication
- Adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities to support student success
- Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses
- Participate in division, college and/or district-wide committees
- Be committed to, and participate in, the shared-governance process
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication OR
- Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English OR
- EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT : All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District ( YCCD ) by the application filing date. Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement.
