    Job Description

    The Technical Data Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing data standards across the Department of Social Services (DSS) - Family Support Division (FSD) to ensure data consistency, quality, and interoperability. This role combines analytical thinking with technical expertise to support enterprise data governance, metadata management, data quality initiatives, and data integration efforts. The analyst will also support data visualization and mapping to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. The location for this position will be in Cole County/Jefferson City FSD Office at 615 Howerton Court, Jefferson City, MO.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain enterprise data standards, including naming conventions, data definitions, and metadata documentation.
    • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure consistent application of data standards across systems and projects.
    • Support the creation and maintenance of a data dictionary and metadata repository.
    • Conduct data quality assessments and recommend improvements to enhance data integrity.
    • Assist in the implementation of data governance policies and procedures.
    • Provide technical support for data integration and transformation efforts, ensuring alignment with established standards.
    • Design and develop data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights and support data-driven decision-making.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on data standards and best practices.
    • Deliver training and guidance to teams on data standardization and governance tools.


    Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.

    and

    • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, or a related technical role.
    • Strong understanding of data modeling, metadata, and data governance principles.
    • Experience working with enterprise-level database platforms, including but not limited to MSSQL, AIX DB2 SQL, z/OS DB2, and JCL-based environments.
    • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
    • Experience with data mapping and integration tools or techniques.
    • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in a regulated or standards-driven environment (e.g., government, healthcare, finance).
    • Familiarity with data privacy and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
    • Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
