Job Description
ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Airport Senior EVS Attendant position. This senior-level working role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the Department of Aviation (DOA). The incumbent performs a full range of environmental services (EVS) duties while providing on-shift support to Airport EVS Attendants. This position is utilized throughout DOA including at our General Aviation airports.

This position creates a welcoming environment for guests by ensuring that the airport and common areas are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained to produce the highest quality of cleanliness in all areas. Key responsibilities include assisting with the coordination of daily work activities, providing guidance on established procedures, supporting training efforts, and participating in routine quality inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met. The position also performs specialized cleaning tasks such as carpet care and floor maintenance, operates heavy duty or specialized cleaning equipment, drives on the airfield as required, communicates via two-way radio, and assists guests with general information or needs.

The Airport Senior EVS Attendant works with a high degree of independence within assigned areas and regularly interacts with the public while collaborating with other airport staff to support airport operations and deliver a positive guest experience.

This recruitment may be used to fill positions Harry Reid International Airport as well as at North Las Vegas Airport (2730 Airport Drive, North Las Vegas, NV 89032) and/or Henderson Executive Airport (3500 Executive Terminal Drive, Henderson, NV 89052).

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility List to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

Employee Services reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Two (2) years of full-time experience in EVS, custodial work or housekeeping services, which includes at least one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. Two (2) years of full-time experience as an Airport EVS Attendant may be considered for the required one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see attached resume" on your application. All details must be written in your own words and cannot be copied from job descriptions or other external sources.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts, depending upon the department to which assigned. May be exposed to body fluids and other hazardous substances.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Class C, Nevada Driver's License at time of appointment. Must pass the airport's Badging Security Class with a ramp designation upon initial appointment and complete a Clark County Defensive Driving Class during probationary/qualifying period.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted and maintain a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.

Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten year employment and five year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to perform custodial and related work, including operating hand and power equipment; stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Projects a positive image while communicating with guests and team members with various socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, in a friendly manner, answers questions, and provides standard information; directs guests to department’s Guest Services team when unable to accurately address guest’s needs.
Provides lead direction, training in work procedures and evaluating the work of EVS Attendants, community service workers and/or service contractors.
Organizes and assigns work, sets priorities, and follows-up to ensure completion of assigned work.
Actively coaches, mentors and develops employees.
Sweeps, vacuums, shampoos, extracts, and performs minor repairs and spot cleans carpets; mops, dust mops, scrubs, strips, seals, buffs and polishes floors; may assist in performing carpet extraction.
Washes and dusts doors, windows, walls, ceilings, window blinds and furniture; polishes furniture, woodwork and metalwork; dusts counters, windowsills, window blinds and similar fixtures.
Empties, cleans and lines waste receptacles and disposes of trash.
Use of high-pressure washer and specialized cleaning equipment, such as floor polisher or ride-on machines, scaffolding or aerial equipment.
Reorders supplies and materials as required.
Cleans and disinfects restrooms; restocks restroom supplies as necessary.
Conducts regular and routine quality inspections and contributes to the development of work procedures.
Reports the need for maintenance or repair of facilities to the appropriate supervisor; corrects or reports any fire or safety hazards and places barriers in public areas.
Maintains EVS equipment, materials and supplies in proper condition; follows designated safety and maintenance checklists prior to any equipment usage.
Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas in a safe condition.
Follows label instructions to mix and dilute cleansers, disinfectants and stripping agents to ensure proper strength for use.
Reports unauthorized persons and other security problems.
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
Keeps basic records of work performed, timesheets, job cards, etc.
May set up meeting rooms and rearrange furniture.
Promptly reports lost items, which may include high-value items, to the Lost & Found office and/or Terminal Operations Coordinators.
Attends customer contact trainings.
May assist in guest line queuing during high passenger volume periods and movement of guests’ luggage during irregular airport operations.
May assist during planned and unplanned fire/life safety system outages; responsible for door and fire watch to ensure facility security on assigned shift.
May be required to check public access equipment, following specific instructions.

May need to clean and disinfect areas that were deemed a biohazard clean up with proper PPE following proper procedures.

May be asked to use technology in the day-to-day job functions, including use of department issued cell phones, radios or other computer equipment.
May drive a department motor vehicle or be able to arrange for transportation to specified work sites.
