What you'll do

• Enforces critical laws, rules, and regulations to protect the property and people at the airport.
• Manages vehicular and pedestrian traffic across busy airport facilities to maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Responds to crash, fire, and emergency situations, providing lifesaving first aid when needed.
• Screens passengers and luggage to detect weapons, explosives, or hazardous materials to maintain public safety.
• Collaborates with agencies, dignitaries, and large crowds, responding to incidents such as bomb threats and preventing theft or vandalism to ensure a secure environment.

Qualifications

REQUIRES

• High school graduation
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to pass a 10-Year TSA Background Check
• Ability to pass preemployment drug screen, physical examination, and background check as prescribed by the City
• Ability to obtain a special police commission as issued by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, Board of Police Commissioners
• Ability to pass a psychological evaluation
• Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies
• Ability to obtain a POST Certification (Class A) within 6 months of employment
  
  **Please note this position will accept both Recruit/Trainee candidates, as well as those who already possess a Missouri POST A Certification**

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
