Job Summary Meal Server and
Kitchen Volunteer positions support the
Senior Center’s daily meal program by helping prepare, serve, and organize food service activities. These hands-on roles are perfect for volunteers who enjoy working in a team and helping create a welcoming dining experience for our community.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Meal Servers: 2 Positions (
10 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Meal Servers help support our lunch program by plating meals, serving guests, and keeping the dining area neat and welcoming. This role is great for someone who enjoys interacting with people and creating a positive dining experience.
Kitchen Assistants: - 2 Positions (Varied shifts between
7 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Kitchen Volunteers assist with simple food prep, organizing supplies, washing dishes, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen area. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on tasks and being part of a hardworking team that supports daily meal service.
Essential Job Functions- Assist with preparing, organizing, and serving daily meals to Senior Center guests
- Help keep kitchen and dining areas clean, orderly, and safe
- Support basic food prep, dishwashing, and supply organization as needed
- Plate and serve meals during lunch service while maintaining a welcoming environment
- Work as part of a team to ensure smooth, efficient meal program operations
Special Job Requirements - Must complete all County required training courses
- Provide acceptable driving history at no cost to the County.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for operation of motor vehicles on Arizona roads at the start of volunteering and maintain said license while volunteering in this position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Basic food service and safe kitchen practices
- Follow instructions and adhere to food-handling and safety guidelines
- Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and program participants
- Stay organized and manage tasks in a fast-paced meal service environment
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with others
- Stand, move, and perform hands-on tasks during assigned shifts
- To use good judgment when assisting with meal service, cleaning, and kitchen support tasks
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements - Work may be performed off-site at schools, health fairs, and community events.
- Work may involve sitting at a desk or table using a Computer Display Monitor and keyboard.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of this classification with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must disclose medical conditions which may limit ability to perform as an emergency worker (in accordance with A.R.S. R8-2 703 -18)..
