    THE TEAM MEMBER WE ARE SEARCHING FOR WILL:
    Perform specialized diagnostic nuclear imaging studies using a dual-mode scanner to produce high-quality three-dimensional images of the body.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Performs hybrid imaging procedures, obtains, patient history, and monitors patient during procedure.
    • Observes patient during procedure and reports any unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel.
    • Reviews all images and evaluates them for technical quality.
    • Performs all required quality control procedures on equipment in accordance with departmental procedures and manufacturer's specifications. On a continuous basis, ensures equipment is functioning properly and advises supervisor of problems.
    • Transfers, positions, and educates patients in preparation for procedures.
    • Calculates, dispenses, and administers isotopes dosage following established departmental procedures and appropriate safety measures.
    • Performs and documents wipe test and radiation monitoring to adhere to As Low as Reasonably Achievable standards.
    • Performs assigned quality assurance and institutional regulatory procedures.
    • Prepares radiopharmaceuticals according to manufacturer's standards.
    • Performs single-mode nuclear medicine studies, as necessary.
    • Injects contrast for certain hybrid imaging procedures.
    • Performs research under the supervision of a nuclear medicine physician or a radiologist with nuclear medicine certification.


    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:

    Option I - PET-CT or SPECT-CT hybrid imaging
    One year of experience performing nuclear medicine procedures under the direction of a qualified physician in a clinical nuclear medicine facility -AND- One year of experience as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) performing computed tomography procedures.

    Option II - PET-MRI hybrid imaging
    One year of experience performing nuclear medicine procedures under the direction of a qualified physician in a clinical nuclear medicine facility -AND- One year of post registration experience* as a magnetic resonance imaging technologist.

    Endorsement of County Qualifications:
    If you performed work that differs from the duties described in your class specification and believe you qualify for this opportunity, please describe these duties in detail in the Work Experience and Supplemental Questions Section of the application and provide verification via official documentation of additional responsibility bonus, out-of-class bonus, temporary assignment bonus or reclassification study with CEO Classification to the exam analyst within 7 calendar days from the last day of filing or from application submission. Employees do not need to submit such verification if they hold or have held a position that regularly performs functions in alignment with the requirements.
    LICENSE:
    PET-CT or SPECT-CT hybrid imaging
    • Current State of California Certified Technologist Nuclear Medicine (CTNM) license, AND current Computed Tomography (CT) certificate issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), OR
    • Current Certification as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California Department of Public Health
    PET-MRI hybrid imaging
    • Current State of California Certified Technologist Nuclear Medicine (CTNM) license, AND
    • Current Certification as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California Department of Public Health

    PHYSICAL CLASS:
    Physical Class III - Moderate: This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
    In order to receive credit for the required current and active license/certification, and/or permit, you must include a legible copy which clearly shows the area of specialization, license/certificate/permit number and date of expiration at the time of filing or within seven (7) calendar days from the date of filing application.     *Post registration experience is defined as the professional work experience or clinical practice an individual acquired after obtaining an official license or professional registration in their field.

    Please note, candidate's original license/ certificate, and/or permit (current/active and unrestricted) is required to be presented during the selection process and prior to appointment.

    If you are a veteran, you may be eligible for veteran’s credit, which is an additional 10% of the total points added to a passing score. We will need a copy of your form DD214 to review, so please include that with your application or email the document to the exam analyst as soon as possible.

    Additional Information

    EXAMINATION CONTENT :
    This examination will consist of an evaluation of training and experience based upon application information, desirable qualifications, and supplemental questionnaire, weighted 100%.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS :
    • Additional points will be awarded for additional experience in excess of the Minimum Requirements.
    Candidates that achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination will be placed on the eligible register.

    ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION
    :
    Applicants who passed the assessment are placed on a register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the register accordingly. We will use this register to fill vacancies in the Department of Health Services as they occur.

    No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
    AVAILABLE SHIFT:
    Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
