As a Custodian, you will play an important role in ensuring our buildings and grounds remain clean, organized, and ready for employees and visitors.
What you'll do:
- Clean and maintain County buildings, offices, and public areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, seal, and polish floors
- Clean and service restrooms and maintain sanitary conditions
- Clean windows, furniture, fixtures, and building surfaces
- Remove trash and maintain indoor and outdoor areas
- Use cleaning equipment and solutions safely and effectively
- Assist with facility setups for meetings, events, and activities
- Identify maintenance needs and report safety concerns
- Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a High School Diploma/GED
- Has one (1) year of custodial experience preferred
- Takes pride in quality work and attention to detail
- Can work independently while following safety procedures
- Provides professional and courteous service to employees and the public

Compensation
Salary range: Range 6/ Steps 2-4 ($15.45-$16.39)

Essential Job Functions
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean windows and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
- Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
- Drive vehicles to perform cleaning of facilities or grounds.
- Follow the procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
- Visually check and clear debris from grounds.
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Requisition and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables and chairs to prepare facilities for events as directed.
- Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma /GED (General Education Diploma).
- One (1) year actual experience as a custodian.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.

- Basic maintenance of heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.

- Use and care of equipment, tools, and materials used in custodial activities.
- Working independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Following and maintaining safety standards.
- Following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
- Provide excellent customer services to ensure guests feel welcome.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associate personnel.
- Understand and follow, quickly and accurately, oral and written instructions.
- Comply with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures, and Department Regulations.
