Traffic Control Specialist

Support a transportation system that serves communities with pride! The Department of Transportation is seeking a Traffic Control Specialist who is ready to contribute to safe and reliable travel across the region. This position offers the chance to play a keypart in designing and reviewing important traffic control strategies. You will be involved in projects that enhance roadway safety and guide public movement.

This position focuses on technical work that supports safe and effective traffic control throughout the district. You will assist with plans, reviews, studies and programs that guide roadway safety and traffic flow. As a Traffic Control Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

• Plan Reviews: Examine and recommend approval for consultant and in house traffic control designs
• Training Support: Conduct or assist in training programs related to work zone traffic control
• Marking Oversight: Prepare and review pavement marking and signing plans for compliance with regulations
• Safety Studies: Review accident and reflectometer data to advise engineers on needed corrections
• Program Coordination: Support district pavement marking and paint programs through studies, layouts and evaluations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Traffic Control Specialist Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years as a Traffic Control Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year of experience in traffic control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, civil engineering, or a closely related field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
