Sr. Fire Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Sr. Fire Engineer to support the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. The role involves leading the design and development of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for both new construction and renovations of government facilities. This individual will be responsible for delivering high-quality design products, performing on-site field verifications, coordinating with interdisciplinary stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with all applicable building and safety codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a lead designer for HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems across a wide range of facilities.
- Conduct field-verification of existing conditions and incorporate findings into design solutions.
- Prepare complete design packages including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting CAD documentation.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with applicable codes such as NFPA, IFC, UFC, and local building/safety regulations.
- Collaborate with Project Execution Branch One and Branch A, Technical Managers, the Fire Department, Construction Branch, and Public Safety.
- Screen and resolve design review comments; initiate corrective actions to address technical discrepancies.
- Maintain a high standard of professional care to minimize project delays, design errors, and cost-related change orders.
- Adhere to and contribute to internal Quality Control (QC) and support Quality Assurance (QA) protocols.
- Prepare digital design files using Government-furnished CAD software in support of DPW deliverables.
- Maintain current compliance with all mandatory training and certifications, including Cyber Awareness Challenge, Information Assurance Level I, OPSEC, iWATCH, and TARP, as required by the contract and installation access policies.
- Travel between Ft. Stewart, GA, and Hunter Army Airfield, GA, as required to support project needs.
