Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Housing and Redevelopment Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Assistant (Part-time, Regular, benefited). The position is scheduled to work Monday - Friday 3:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are

The Neighborhood Resources Housing & Redevelopment Division is the City of Chandler Public Housing Authority which oversees and manages Public Housing units and the Housing Choice Voucher: Section 8 program. Our primary focus is to provide affordable rental housing for low-income households. The Housing Youth Program serves the children and youth living in Chandler’s two Public Housing Family Sites and Villas on McQueen.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a creative and self-motivated individual, with at least 1 year of experience working with youth, who leads by example to join our inclusive team. Our new team member will have a passion for youth development and experience developing and implementing youth programming. They will independently lead programming during the school year and collaborate with team members to develop and implement programming during school intersessions and breaks.

Minimum qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in a recreation environment
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card within 3 months of hire or promotion
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.


Desired qualifications

  • Experience with at-risk and low-income youth
  • Experience with site-based afterschool programs
  • Experience with literacy programs


This is a regular part-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city’s Drug Free Workplace Policy. The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
