Job Description

Working Title: Personal Trainer

The purpose of this recruitment is to produce a pool of qualified applicants to call upon for temporary appointments. Temporary appointments may be canceled or extended at any time. Successful candidates may be appointed from a few days up to one year depending on the assignment. Classification Title: Casual Worker

Classification Salary Range: $16.90 -$140.00 per hour

Anticipated Hourly Rates based on full-time years of experience and applicable certifications:

Level 1: Has certification and 0-2 years’ experience. Pay rate $35 per hour

Level 2: Has certification and 3-6 years’ experience. Pay rate $40 per hour

Level 3: Has certification and 7+ years’ experience. Pay rate $45 per hour

Level 4: Has multiple certifications and 5+ years’ experience. Pay rate $50 per hour

Position Summary:

The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing safe, effective, and individualized fitness instruction to Health, Wellness and Recreation Center clients. This role supports member wellness by delivering high-quality personal training sessions, maintaining a safe fitness environment, and delivering excellent customer service. The Personal Trainer follows established policies and professional standards to promote client satisfaction, retention, and results.

Part-time schedule of up to 20 hours per week, with hours varying based on client bookings and facility needs. Evening and weekend availability may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts safe, effective, and goal-oriented personal training sessions for clients of varying fitness levels.
  • Provides exercise instruction, demonstrations, and motivation using proper technique and professional judgment.
  • Ensures client safety at all times within strength training and cardiovascular areas.
  • Conducts client consultations, fitness assessments, and program design using approved methods and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate client documentation, scheduling, and session records using designated software or systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR/AED certifications
  • Current nationally recognized personal training certification (NCCA-accredited), such as ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of standard practices in personal training and recreational fitness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a recreation, collegiate, or community fitness setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with fitness assessments and exercise prescription.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and varying fitness levels.
