Press Assistant for Abdul for U.S. Senate
Abdul for U.S. Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as a Press Assistant for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.
Role Summary
The Press Assistant for Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate is an important member of the communications team, responsible for assisting in the execution of the campaign's message strategy and drafting written materials, compiling daily news clips, and media monitoring, among other duties.
This will be a full time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a relocation timeline. This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and edit communications materials including press releases, advisories statements, talking points, and op-eds.
- Media monitor, track interviews and reporter inquiries, and keep press lists up to date.
- Assist the communications team with daily communications operations and administrative tasks as needed.
- Upload approved content to the website/newsroom and share internally for amplification.
- Manage press check in and logistics at campaign events.
- Take on additional duties and tasks as assigned and as needs evolve for a fast-paced environment.
- Other campaign needs as required
Qualifications (Required):
- 1+ years in communications, press, digital, or campaigns
- Superior organizational, writing, editing, and proofing skills
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Must have transportation to attend events as needed.
- Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive.
- Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.
- Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions
- Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail
- Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate
- Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways
- Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus
