Essential Job Functions

  • Process and maintain a variety of documents, records, forms, reports, permits, licenses, and case files in accordance with established procedures.
  • Review applications, forms, and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Provide information and assistance to the public regarding programs, services, procedures, regulations, forms, and permit requests.
  • Maintain and update records that require compiling, verifying, calculating, and tracking data.
  • Examine, compare, and categorize documents to ensure accuracy and proper processing.
  • Research and retrieve information from records, databases, and files using judgment and discretion in selecting relevant materials.
  • Coordinate, index, cross-reference, and maintain physical and electronic filing systems.
  • Calculate fees, collect payments, issue receipts, and maintain related records.
  • Receive, sort, distribute, and process incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.
  • Operate standard office equipment and provide receptionist, counter, customer service, inventory control, and office support functions as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements to Qualify:
Completion of the Department of Human Resources Youth Worker (CYBP/CORE) Program * .

* Applicants must have held or hold the payroll title of Youth Worker and have worked 40 hours a week for one year in the Countywide Youth Bridges Program.

License:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Physical Class:
2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

No withhold will be allowed. Required experience must be fully met at the time of filing and clearly indicated on the application.

Applicants must meet the requirements and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on weighted test part in order to be placed on the eligible register.
Exam Review:
Multiple-choice and/ or simulation assessments are not reviewable by applicants per Civil Service Rule 7.19 .

Transfer of Test Responses:
  • If you have taken identical components recently for other exams, your responses may be automatically transferred to this exam.
  • This examination contains test components that may be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to those exams.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Applicants who passed the assessments will be placed on an eligible register for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this register to fill vacancies throughout the County of Los Angeles, as they occur. Applications will be processed on an as-received basis, and those earning a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
