This position reports to the Director of Library Services.Responsibilities and DutiesAnswers reference questions in the Library, online, and by telephone.Instructs and promotes the use of all library materials.Participates in library orientations, and provides tours and classroom visits, when necessary.Reviews book selection aids to select material for possible purchase and inclusion in the collection.Assists in weeding materials and recommends titles to be discarded.Instructs and supervises student assistants assigned to the reference area.Serves in other public service areas when needed.Works nights and Sundays when needed.Participates in all tasks necessary to ensure good housekeeping, including shelf reading, shelving and maintaining general appearance of the reference area.Cooperates as a team member with library staff in performing any professional or non‑professional duty essential to the achievement of efficient library services and operation.Reports all problems and changes to the appropriate campus librarian.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Library Sciences from an accredited school of Library Science. Must possess knowledge of LC Classification System.Preferred QualificationsPrevious supervisory experience.Employment Eligibility435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.Hourly Rate$21.84 (20‑25 hours per week)Supplemental MaterialsAll supplemental materials must be submitted electronically via the Workday applicant portal.
