The team member we are searching for:
Provides housekeeping, patient transport and clerical non-patient care and non-skilled patient support services to a team or group of patients and staff in a health care facility.

Essential Job Functions

  • Transports patients to scheduled tests, appointments, and treatments including readying gurneys, wheelchairs, and charts for their transport from the unit; transporting them to and from scheduled appointments and therapy activities; Assists Lift Team in lifting and transferring patients into and out of gurneys and wheelchairs for their transport from the unit by using established transfer methods and lifting equipment.
  • Performs simple clerical and other related duties, such as answering telephones, filing documents, completing simple forms, checking stocks of stationery and office supplies, and responding to visitors' inquiries.
  • Ensures patients safety by monitoring patients who are at risk for wandering off or falling and ensuring that the environment is free from potential hazards.
  • Stocks and refills the expected levels of patient care supplies as necessary and redistributes supplies throughout the unit in accordance with established guidelines. Checks and restocks daily the levels of laboratory and cleaning supplies and linens as needed.
  • Maintains orderliness of countertops, tables and chairs in work area and common meeting areas. Cleans and keeps tidy on a scheduled basis, the interior of refrigerators, interior and exterior of microwave ovens.

Requirements

Requirements to Qualify:
Three (3) months of experience in a healthcare setting* providing non-skilled support services to patients**.

Physical Class 3-Moderate:
This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*For this examination, healthcare settings include but are not limited to acute-care hospitals, long-term care facilities (such as nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities), physicians' offices, urgent-care centers, outpatient clinics, home healthcare agency, and emergency medical services.

**Providing non-skilled support services to patients may include one or more of the following: monitoring patients; assisting patients with personal care; transporting patients; assisting with lifting, transferring, and mobility of patients; stocks, refills and maintains patient care supplies; patient registration and intake; and provides other various supportive clerical services to patients.

Desirable Qualifications:
Credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:
  • Additional credit will be awarded for experience in a healthcare setting beyond the requirements.
  • Current and valid CPR Certification authorized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.


Additional Information

EXAMINATION CONTENT:

This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience based on application information, desirable qualifications and supplemental information questionnaire form, weighted 100%.

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on this examination to be added to the eligible list.
Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Applicants who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in LA Health Services as they occur.

Individuals placed on the eligible list are not allowed to participate in this examination for twelve (12) months following the date of being added to the list.
Applicants who did not meet the requirements may reapply after 30 days of their most recent application if the exam is still open for filing.

Available shifts:
Appointees may be required to work any shift and at any facility, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
