Position Responsibilities
- The Laborist provides comprehensive care to pregnant women, delivers babies, and manages gynecological emergencies.
- Provide obstetric and gynecological care to patients during shifts.
- Attend deliveries and assist in the management of labor and childbirth, including performing cesarean sections and other surgical interventions as needed.
- Evaluate and manage obstetric emergencies such as preterm labor, preeclampsia, and fetal distress.
- Perform surgical procedures related to gynecology, such as suction D&Cs, emergency surgeries to include ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, etc.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, neonatologists, and other specialists to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Document patient encounters, medical histories, and treatment plans accurately and comprehensively in electronic medical records.
- Stay up to date with advances in obstetrics and gynecology through continuing medical education and professional development activities.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in medical practice, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of residency training in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Board certification or Board eligibility in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Active New York Medical License, CDS, and DEA, or ability to obtain.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in obstetric and gynecological care, including surgical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and make quick, evidence-based decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to work overnight shifts on a regular basis, including weekends and holidays.
Environment Conditions
- Work is performed in a typical medical/hospital environment.
Pay or shift range: $250,000 USD to $285,000 USD
The posted salary range is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this role. However, final offers may fall outside this range based on experience, skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons. This range is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses/incentive compensation or benefits.
