Role Description
Freshwater Development is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to join our growing team. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Northern Michigan, responsible for leading daily construction operations on luxury residential and mixed-use projects.
The Field Superintendent will coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, maintain project schedules, oversee quality control, enforce safety standards, and ensure every aspect of construction is executed to the highest level. This role works closely with project managers, architects, consultants, and ownership to deliver projects with exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily field operations from site mobilization through project completion.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and material deliveries.
- Maintain project schedules and proactively identify potential delays.
- Ensure work complies with construction documents, specifications, and building codes.
- Uphold Freshwater's standards for quality, craftsmanship, and job site organization.
- Enforce OSHA and company safety standards and conduct regular safety meetings.
- Maintain daily reports, progress photos, punch lists, and project documentation.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to resolve field issues efficiently.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or equivalent leadership role in residential or commercial construction.
- Experience managing custom residential homes and/or luxury residential mixed-use projects.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, building systems, and quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA safety requirements and job site best practices.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites throughout Northern Michigan.
