As a school-based Special Education Teacher in Wauconda, Illinois, your days will iInclude:

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction in a self-contained autism program for students in kindergarten through fourth grade.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional needs.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Implement structured routines, positive behavior supports, and accommodations that promote student engagement and independence.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, school staff, and families to support student success.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in IEP meetings.


Job Details

  • Position: Full-time contract in a school setting
  • Dates: ASAP through June
  • Hours: 32.5 hours per week
  • Classroom: Self-contained autism program
  • Grade Level: Kindergarten–fourth grade
  • Setting: Onsite


Successful Candidates Possess

  • An active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement (required)
  • Experience supporting students with autism (strongly preferred)
  • Strong skills in individualized instruction, classroom management, and collaboration
  • The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
