Description:The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office is seeking a Paralegal to provide a high level of strategic support and coordination for County Attorney staff and clients .
This position primarily provides support to the County Attorney’s transactional team but will also have the opportunity to support the litigation team as the need arises. Prior experience in a legal office providing transactional paralegal support such as monitoring contracts and leases, drafting resolutions and ordinances, preparing real estate documents for closings and managing land use and property tax documents is a plus for this position.
The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, excellent editing skills, be legal- minded, relentlessly detail-oriented, and a team player. The candidate must also have the proven ability to take initiative, mov e between diverse tasks with ease, and must thrive in a high-energy, collegial environment.

SCHEDULE: This position has the potential to operate on a four-day, 40-hour work week (Monday- Thursday) or a standard work week (Monday-Friday). This position also offers the opportunity for remote work on some days of the week.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $32-38 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills , as well as budgetary and E qual Work for Equal Pay considerations .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Performs essential paralegal functions for attorneys in the County Attorney's office in practice in all courts.
- Preparing and editing legal documents, such as contracts, leases, and licenses.
- Monitoring contracts and leases for expiration and renewals.
- Editing resolutions, ordinances, policies and routing documents.
- Acts as liaison with clients, other law firms, courts, and other agencies.
- Electronically files court documents using PACER, Lexis/Nexis File & Serve, and the U.S. District Court ECF filing systems, and trains others in the use of such systems.

- Pro vides assistance an d coverage as needed for absences of other paralegals in contracts, land use, zoning and other duties as requested .
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of one year of experience as paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm, corporate legal departments, or government agencies, or related experience.
Preferred Qualification: Paralegal Certificate or Associate’s degree. Three years’ experience as a paralegal or legal assistant working on transactional matters in a legal environment, corporate legal department, or government agency .
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities :
- Prior experience working in a law office or legal department.
- Strong written and oral communication.
- Independent critical thinking and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude.
- Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite ( i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint etc.) Adobe Acrobat Pro and experiment with new software and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret statutes and legislation.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Attention to detail and deadlines.
