    Starting Salary:

    Automotive Technician I: $19.14 o $24.40 hourly, depending on qualifications.
    Automotive Technician II: $20.29 to $25.86 hourly, depending on qualifications.


    Plus $.30 per hour for each ASE certificate (up to six).
    Plus $.30 per hour tool allowance.
    Plus $1.00 Shift Differential when employees are eligible. This is applicable provided the majority of the night shift hours worked fall between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

    Job Description:

    Performs skilled mechanical work primarily on light-duty equipment with GVWR less than 26,000 lbs. Repairs and maintains pickups, sedans, motorcycles, lawnmowers, golf carts, specialized field equipment, trailers, fire rescue units, and related equipment. This position is responsible for diagnosing mechanical troubles to determine appropriate maintenance work and for repairing/overhauling heavy alternative, gasoline, and diesel-powered equipment and hydraulic components. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed while in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Automotive Technician I: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years of experience as an automotive or diesel technician required, or accreditation from a vocational institute; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required. A combination of at least two (2) certifications from either ASE and/or EVT in related field desired.

    Automotive Technician II: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and four (4) years experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required. Combination of at least four (4) certifications from either Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) in related field required

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
