    The Academic Services Department of the Robert E. Kennedy Library at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking applications for a pool of part-time librarians. Under the direction of the Department Head for Academic Services, a primary responsibility for successful applicants to this part-time position will be the preparation and delivery of library-related instructional workshops for various departments and majors at Cal Poly for one or more quarters of the 25/26 Academic Year. Reference support and outreach support will also fall among the assigned activities.

    Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
    Lecturer A: $6,288-$7,658
    Lecturer B: $7,127-$15,211
    Lecturer C: $7,830-$16,697
    Lecturer D: $9,883-$17,490

    Anticipated monthly hiring range based on hours (~10 - 20 per week) and experience $1427 - $2970.

    This is a Unit 3 Faculty position, with California Faculty Association (CFA) representation.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • MLS from an ALA accredited program or equivalent institution by the time of appointment, or comparable library experience with other related advanced subject degree.
    • Experience providing reference, instruction, or outreach services to a diverse population.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collegially in a team setting.
    • Demonstrated competency working with computer applications and the ability to learn new software applications.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate to a variety of stakeholders.
    • Ability to interact sensitively and effectively in a multi-cultural environment.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Three or more years of relevant experience.
    • Experience in or potential for developing and leading engaging library-related instruction sessions.
    • Experience in promoting library-related programs.
    • Demonstrated professional growth and scholarly achievement.
    • Experience working in an academic library.


    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
