    Job Summary

    The Office of the Registrar currently operates on a hybrid schedule: team members work three days per week in the office and telecommute two days per week.

    The Degree Progress Analyst works independently, under general supervision of the Associate Registrar, on all policy, procedural, and analytical matters related to degree completion. The incumbent is the expert and resource for campus on all policy and procedural matters related to degree completion, including Title 5, Executive Orders and Coded Memoranda, Academic Senate policy, as well as major and General Education curricula at Cal Poly and in transfer. As the campus expert, they clarify relevant policies for advisors, other campus constituents, and students. They must understand how all rules and policies come together, and assess and recommend changes that would improve policies that might be detrimental. They apply their knowledge to creative problem-solving in complex and challenging policy, procedural, and curricular situations.

    Department Summary

    Within the Strategic Enrollment Management Division, the Office of the Registrar serves the entire campus community and its alumni. It is the official custodian of the student academic record from the point of matriculation, progressing through the evaluation of transfer credit, registration, program and enrollment changes, verification of enrollment activity, degree verification and posting, processing of diplomas, graduation certification, and transcript production. The Office of the Registrar is also responsible for assisting the University with the development, implementation, and maintenance of curricular policies and procedures, production and maintenance of the university catalog, development and publication of articulation agreements, and administration of university-wide scheduling which is comprised of academic scheduling, block scheduling and master calendar (also known as event scheduling).

    Key Qualifications
    • Thorough knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge in policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertinent to progress-to-degree and to the functions of the Registrar’s Office.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
    • Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Ability to function independently and show significant initiative in identifying creative solutions and process improvements for a program, including addressing gaps in existing policies, procedures, and communication.

    Education and Experience
    • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Three years of technical or administrative experience. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Salary and Benefits

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $63,288 - $71,280 Per Year

    Classification Range: $63,288 - $92,208 Per Year

    Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
